This beautiful piece was made by award-winning Hopi pottery artist, Rainy Naha.   Rainy is the daughter of the famous Helen Naha (Featherwoman) and granddaughter of the famous and innovative pottery artist Paqua Naha (the first Frogwoman).  Many credit Paqua Naha with developing white ware Hopi pottery in the early 1950’s. Rainy Naha was born in 1949, a member of the Spider/Stick Clan, Tewa, and has been creating magnificent works of pottery and clay art for almost 50 years. Rainy (along with her notable potter siblings Burel Naha and Sylvia Naha Humphries) was taught traditional Hopi pottery making and the art of working with clay by her famous mother.  She signs all of her work with the feather hallmark (as her mother did) along with her name, “Rainy.”  Known for its detail, precision, sharp lines, and thin walls, Rainy Naha’s pottery has been distinguished with numerous awards.  Please watch the quick video!
