Santa Clara Miniature Sgraffito Pottery by Camilio ‘Sunflower’ Tafoya

$995

Santa Clara Pueblo pottery artist, Camilio Sunflower Tafoya, father of Joseph Lonewolf, made this beautiful miniature red pot. The sgraffito design depicts hummingbirds flitting around flowers.  Camilio ‘Sunflower’ Tafoya (brother of Margaret Tafoya) is credited with the reintroduction of miniature pottery as fine art. The miniature pottery was made famous by Camilio Tafoya’s son, Joseph Lonewolf. Miniatures are now common in all Southwest Native American Indian pottery-producing areas. However, the descendants of Camilio ‘Sunflower’ Tafoya likely make the most of any pottery family group.
